Daggett Garage

This garage began life in another city as a locomotive repair roundhouse, then was moved to Daggett for use as an auto repair shop until World War II, when it became a mess hall for US soldiers who were guarding the local railroad bridges. In 2006 the building was owned and operated by a mining and trucking company.

Amazing shot of the Garage you got here! I lived in Daggett, California for many years now and I know quite a thing or two about that garage.

It was actually built right where it stands today as a locomotive shed for the Borate & Daggett Railroad's two Hiesler engines from 1896 until 1909 when the line closed due to a lack of borax being mined from the mines at Borate. The shed was indeed bought as a garage around WWII and is now in private ownership of Mr. Alan Golden, who keeps quite a large collection of ancient mining items dating back to the 1870's.
